Harpagophytum
Used for centuries in Africa, harpagophytum, part of the traditional pharmacopoeia of southern Africa, is used mainly to promote joint health.
A plant native to the Kalahari desert and the steppes of Namibia, harpagophytum (also called “ devil's claw ”) is recognized for its properties on the joints.
The roots of the plant are rich in harpagosides (main active ingredients) but also in other interesting molecules: beta-sitosterol, pagoside,acteoside, isoacteoside, caffeic acid, cinnamic acid, etc.
Today, Harpagophytum procumbens is a recognized medicinal plant whose root is listed in the European Pharmacopoeia with the indication: “ traditionally used in the symptomatic treatment of minor painful joint manifestations. ".
