SANDRA GUILIANI, SOPHROLOGUE SPÉCIALISÉE DANS LES PROBLÈMES DE SOMMEIL

SANDRA GUILIANI, SOPHROLOGIST SPECIALIZING IN SLEEP PROBLEMS

Sleep is a key pillar of our well-being, and yet many people struggle to fall asleep or maintain restful sleep. To explore this topic, we met with Sandra Giuliani , a sophrologist specializing in sleep issues, who shares her journey, expertise, and practical advice.

An atypical journey in the service of humanity

Sandra Giuliani has not always been a sophrologist. After a career in business and entrepreneurial experience, she decided five years ago to retrain to devote herself fully to supporting individuals. Her interest in people first led her to follow a four-year training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 2012, before training in professional coaching to deepen the aspects related to communication and personal development.

Subsequently, she trained in sophrology with a specialization in the prevention and regulation of stress, sleep disorders and chronic tinnitus .

Today, Sandra supports her clients in her practice in Maubec, combining Traditional Chinese Medicine and sophrology to offer a complete and personalized approach.

What exactly is sophrology?

Born from the impulse of a neuropsychiatrist, Alfonso Caycedo founded sophrology, originally to support people suffering from mental illnesses towards greater autonomy.

It is a holistic method that combines breathing exercises , gentle body activations and mental visualization to help soothe the mind and body.

For Sandra, sophrology is a perfect synthesis between Traditional Chinese Medicine and coaching. It allows her to work on the three essential dimensions: emotional, mental and physical.

How can sophrology reduce insomnia?

Sleep disorders, whether reactive or chronic, have a profound impact on quality of life. There are two types of insomnia:

  • Reactive insomnia : often linked to occasional stress during the day.
  • Chronic insomnia : which lasts for several weeks or months and causes daytime consequences such as fatigue, drowsiness, mood disorders or hormonal imbalances, etc.

Sophrology makes it possible to introduce protocols that provide each individual with the means to understand why these sleep problems occur.

Among the techniques used:

  • Visualization to calm the mind .
  • Threshold protection through the sophroliminal threshold between a state of wakefulness and sleep.
  • Awareness of an unsuitable pace of life .

By working on both the mind and the body, sophrology helps to recreate conditions conducive to peaceful sleep.

Sandra's tips for sleeping better

To help you fall asleep and maintain restful sleep, Sandra recommends adopting a simple and effective routine:

  1. Eat light and avoid eating late, ideally at least three hours before bedtime.
  2. Establish evening rituals to signal to your body that it's time to wind down.
  3. Pay attention to the first signs of fatigue : heavy eyelids, first yawns
  4. Avoid screens before bed.
  5. Limit evening exercise, which can increase your alertness.
  6. Prefer a lukewarm or cold shower , as a hot shower can raise body temperature and disrupt sleep.
  7. Maintain an optimal temperature in your room (around 19-20°C).
  8. Prepare for sleep in the morning , by taking regular breaks to reduce accumulated mental pressure (e.g. cardiac coherence, quiet time).

Training in sophrology specializing in sleep

Sandra developed her first specific protocol in collaboration with a sleep doctor. She emphasizes a crucial point: repetition . Like any learning, sophrology requires regular commitment to anchor the benefits over time. It is this perseverance that truly transforms the relationship with sleep.
